Amazon jumped into the video game world with it’s first major title: Crucible. A free-to-play team based PvP action shooter that was launched earlier this week on Amazon and Steam.
With ten different characters to choose from, the game is very similar to other battle royal or massive online battle arena games currently on the market. However, it does have a few elements that make it stand out from the other games, such as having to look out for NPC characters throughout the world than can harm you, and that Amazon clearly intends on investing heavily on it for the future. This game is still barely getting started, and it’s easy to see it has a lot of room to grow.

Overall, the game’s most important foundation, which is the gameplay, is very solid. The characters and game modes are different enough from similar games on the market to make the game an entertaining and unique experience. But, most importantly, you can tell that this is barely the beginning of a much bigger project. The downside of that is that it’s still very new and lacks a few key features, such as voice chat. But I’m confident in the fact that Amazon will add that feature soon enough, and make a host of other improvements as the game grows and the tech giant continues to expand in the video game market. And, considering the fact that Amazon owns Twitch, it’s easy to picture this game being heavily pushed on that platform as it continues to progress. So the ceiling and potential for this franchise is very high, so this is probably only the beginning for Crucible.
