March means Springtime, this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, and the return of ‘The Caped Crusader’! So, what can we look forward to seeing on the big screen? Let’s take a look at my TOP 10 March Movies Ranked by Excitement!
Top 10 March Movies Ranked By Excitement – Dragon Movie Guy
#10 – The Outfit
In at number 10 is The Outfit; an ensemble Crime Drama about an English Tailor who works for the Chicago mob.
‘It doesn’t terribly much matter where I am. I have me shears. What else does a man need besides his shears? You can not make something good, until you understand the customer.’
The Outfit
Leonard, played by Oscar Winner Mark Rylance, looks to be training Mable, played by Zoey Deutch, in his store/cash drop location for the mob.
That is until he gets stuck between the organized crime outfits that employ him, the cops that are chasing them down, and whoever it is that’s holding him hostage.
‘There are a thousand Blue Boys out there hunting for this. And, if they find it, I start shooting.’
The Outfit
This looks like a classic standoff movie, where you don’t know who is who, and who is going to shoot first.
I love a good mystery where the story is revealed to the audience at the same time as it is to the characters, and it feels like the whole thing is happening in real time.
‘I’m going to need that tape, pal. Gentlemen. This is going to be a long night.’
The Outfit
The Outfit hits theaters March 18.
#9 – Fresh – March Movies Ranked
In at Number 9 is Fresh; a Comedy Horror Thriller about a woman surviving the online dating world, and all of the headaches that entails.
‘I think you would just look great in a dress. Pretty much done actually, thank you. If it’s cool, I’m just going to snag these leftovers.’
Fresh
Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as ‘Noa’, a single lady not-so-enthusiastically going through the motions of trying to find ‘the one.’.
Needless to say, Noa has to kiss a lot of frogs before she finds her prince.
‘Let me know how you do it, Molly. Do what? Dating people. Do you live around here? ‘Cause I live on aisle 6. That was terrible.’
Fresh
Director Mimi Cave’s feature film debut, ‘Fresh’ looks to give us quite a ‘different’ love story. Once Noa meets Steve, played by Sebastian Stan, things really hit the fan.
‘Fresh’ looks like a slightly cynical, but still FUN look at dating in the age of swiping left and right; and also the timeless trope of being careful what you wish for.
‘It’s about giving. Giving yourself over to somebody. Becoming one, forever.’
Fresh
Fresh hits Hulu on March 4.
#8 – Windfall
In at number 8 is Windfall; a Crime Thriller about a burglar turned kidnapper, who is awful at BOTH.
‘How does this open? Is there a trick to the purse? NO! There’s a clasp. I want $150 Thousand. You think that’s enough? Yeah, I think you’re probably going to want more.’
Windfall
Jason Segal stars as ‘Nobody’, a burglar looking to steal from a Billionaire’s vacation home.
Unfortunately, the billionaire CEO, played by Jesse Plemons, and his Wife, played by Lily Collins; come back while he’s still there.
Nobody clearly has an axe to grind with CEO. This isn’t a random crime.
‘You owe a debt to a helluva lot more people than just me. Try being a rich white guy these days! **laughs**.’
Windfall
Director Charlie McDowell previously worked with Jason Segal in 2017’s ‘The Discovery’; and looks to keep him in the role of a stubborn outsider, fighting against a much more powerful foe.
Windfall looks like a fun Mystery that will keep the audience guessing until the end.
‘You have everything, and I have nothing! **Argh**’
Windfall
Windfall streams on Netflix, March 18.
#7 – Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre – March Movies Ranked
In at Number 7 is Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, Guy Ritchie’s latest Action, Comedy, Thriller.
‘What’s that? You said it was clear. I said the FRONT was clear. Front, back; right, wrong. **right, wrong**.’
Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre
Jason Statham plays Orson Fortune, a spy who’s team seeks to take down arms dealer Greg Simmonds, played by Hugh Grant.
The All Star cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, and Josh Hartnett as movie star Danny Francesco.
‘You can’t catch this fish with conventional lures. The lure being… Danny Francesco. Greg Simmonds FAVORITE movie star. And, how do we get him? Blackmail.’
Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre
‘Operation Fortune’ looks like a much lighter film than Ritchie’s recent projects.
And, it also looks like continues his signature Ensemble storytelling, and ever expanding troop of actors.
‘He’s going to kill, you know. Well, shoot first, then. **shots** Tidy. **Thumbs up**’
Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre
Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre hits theaters March 18.
#6 – Alice
In at number 6 is Alice; a Dramatic Thriller by Writer/Director Krystin Ver Linden in her feature film debut.
‘**Alice escapes and almost run over by truck**’
Alice
Keke Palmer stars as Alice, an escaped slave who discovers she’s actually in 1973 Georgia and not in the 19th Century.
Common stars as Frank, a truck driver who helps Alice adjust to the 20th Century.
‘Fill this out for me. I don’t write. I can help you. We spent decades trying to make a change for the people.’
Alice
Alice looks like a combination of The Hunt, and a tribute to the Black-sploitation films of the 70’s.
It should be fun to see Alice try to get revenge on her former slave owner, played by Jonny Lee Miller.
‘I’m not scared, and that should scare you. You’re not going to leave here in one piece. I. Am. Freedom.’
Alice
Alice hits theaters March 18.
#5 – The Batman – March Movies Ranked
In at Number 5 is The Batman; the 10th Live Action movie, with Batman as the Titlular character.
‘You really could be doing more for this city. **SFx** **Snort**’
The Batman
Team Edward becomes Team Bruce as Robert Pattinson steps into Batman’s cowl.
Planet Of The Apes’ Matt Reeves takes over the Director’s chair as we get a much, much darker take on the ‘Caped Crusader’.
‘The killer left this for The Batman. You came. I’ve been trying to reach you.’
The Batman
Paul Dano terrorizes Gotham City in a fresh take on The Riddler, and Zoe Kravitz claws her way into the movie as Catwoman.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Warner Brothers eventually releases a Black and White version of this film, as they did with Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Given how visually dark the Cinematography looks and the despair of the subject matter, it seems like almost a given.
‘When it’s denied, it’s your violence that’s denied. Justice.’
The Batman
The Batman hits theaters March 4.
#4 – The Adam Project
In at Number 4 is The Adam Project; an Action/Adventure SciFi Comedy starring Ryan Reynolds.
‘I don’t think we should be out here. Ahh! Take it easy! Or, fall down and scream.’
The Adam Project
From the same team that brought us Free Guy; Ryan Reynolds plays ‘Adam’, a time traveling pilot who teams up with himself as a child, played by Walker Scobell.
Adam also travels back to see his late Father, Louis, played by Mark Ruffalo. All of this seems surprisingly easy for Young Adam to believe.
‘We have the same scar, right here. You’re me. Holy Sh–. That’s classified, but yes. Where are you going?’
The Adam Project
The trailers don’t seem to reveal much about the story, other than they’re trying to save the world.
But, if you’re a fan of Ryan Reynolds, like I am, I tend to trust Reynolds’ taste in filmmaking.
‘Grab onto that railing, hold on for dear life, and try not to pass out from all the G’s, OK?. What’s a G… Ah!’
The Adam Project
The Adam Project hits Netflix on March 11.
#3 – X – March Movies Ranked
In at Number 3 is ‘X‘, a Slasher/Horror flick about a 70’s Adult Film gone horribly wrong.
‘My wife, Pearl, is next door. He don’t know what we’re doing, does he? It’s always better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.’
X
Brittany Snow and Scream’s Jenna Ortega star as adult film actresses hitting the road in Texas.
But, their rented out farm turns out to be more horror than whore when the lights go out.
‘My wife is not well. It happens after dark.’
X
Kid Cudi, Mia Goth, and Stephen Ure also star in this A24 film by Writer/Director Ti West.
X looks like a highly stylized blood-fest, that’s filled with jump scares and a ton of fun.
‘You don’t want to leave, do you? People’s eyes are gonna come out of their damn skulls. Are you alright? No. **Scream**’
X
X hits theaters March 18.
#2 – After Yang – March Movies Ranked
In at Number 2 is After Yang; a SciFi Drama about love and loss after a family’s robot manservant stops working.
‘C’mon Yang! What happened to Yang? I don’t know. He shut down last night. He won’t restart.’
After Yang
Korean-American Director Kogonada brings his second feature film to the big screen with strong visuals and strong questions about what it means to be human.
‘Did Yang want to be human? That’s such a human thing to ask, isn’t it?’
After Yang
Colin Farrell and Jodi Turner-Smith star as parents Jake and Kyra. Justin H. Min stars as the titular Yang, a mere robot, but one who made a big impact on the family he served.
‘Do YOU want him back? Of course, I do. I want him back, too.’
After Yang
After Yang hits theaters and steams on Showtime, March 4.
#1 – Everything Everywhere All At Once – March Movies Ranked
And, In at Number 1 is Everything, Everywhere, All At Once; with Michelle Yeoh connecting with her different selves from around the multiverse in order to save the world.
‘You may only see a pile of receipts, but I see a story. It does not look good. **Yells**’
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Produced by Avengers: Endgame Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, ‘Everything’ features Evelyn Wang, played by Michelle Yeoh, who must jump into several very different versions of herself.
Evelyn must also run into several different versions of her husband, too.
‘I’m from another universe. We need your help. **shoves him away** Very busy today.’
Everything Everywhere All At Once
This SciFi Action Comedy comes to us from Director Dan Kwan, who also directed one of my favorite Indie movies of the last several years.
Everything Everywhere All At Once also looks to be exceedingly quirky and visually stunning, just like Swiss Army Man.
‘Of all the places I could be, I just want to be here with you. Consider the fate of every single world of our infinite multiverse.’
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Everything Everywhere All At Once hits theaters March 11.
