You favorite pets return with new adventures surrounding their own dreams and problems. Snowball (Kevin Hart) has settled into his new home life and is a lovable bunny when the family is near, but left to his own devices finds him to be a costumed super hero with dreams of saving and thwarting. Max (Patton Oswalt) is now content with another dog in the house and also a new baby that he must protect. And Gidget (Jenny Slate) is living her best life, until a friend must be saved and a new persona must emerge from her.
As the story breaks apart and we follow our character, we find Max in a constant state of worry as he works to protect his young human from any and all harm. Snowball is approached by Daisy (Tiffany Haddish), a Shih-Tzu that needs super help to free an imprisoned lion from an evil circus owner. And Gidget takes on parental-esque responsibility put upon her by Max that has her entering a lions den of trouble.
For all of those in love with the idea and story type of the first film, you will be happy and laughing throughout. More adventures and insight into our pets minds in this film make it entertaining and emotional. The voice work of all talent involved also bring the characters to life and sells the absurd nature of all of the furry characters. Made for kids, but very palatable for adults, The Secret Life of Pets 2 is a fun family option for getting out of the house. As long as you already walked and fed the dog, that is.
