Review: Terminator – Dark Fate

That darned future is in trouble again, it seems. We thought we had fixed it previously, but James Cameron and crew seem to think we messed up. So pick up a gun, an emp grenade and a bucket of popcorn.

When a familiar ball of electricity spits out someone, there’s a 50% chance you’re going to be in trouble. This is the case once again as two beings have entered our time from the future. A woman falls through a bridge in Mexico, seemingly with her own internal computer parts. This cyborg is named Grace (Mackenzie Davis) and she has only one mission, ensure the life of Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes).

The other ball of light spits out someone less friendly, a new killing bot with the designation Rev-9. For those of you heavy into comic book TV , you’ll notice its being played by actor Gabriel Luna aka Ghost Rider in the Marvel universe. Slight smiles and the ability to form into any being it wants, while still having a deadly robot skeleton make this a very formidable killer.

And why this new robot and cyborg from the future? Didn’t we fix things last time? Unfortunately not. While we did destroy Skynet and that judgement day, humans are still evolving and creating new AI’s, which apparently all have the end result of wanting the human race to end. So grab a weapon and the closest vehicle, because mass destruction follows this traveling war.

One of the most fun action films this year is led by three ladies that mean business. Mckenzie Grace, Linda Hamilton and Natalia Reyes are the main force in this film, with Arnold Schwarzenegger coming in later in the film to add needed context and firepower. Watching this film, I was surprised how much I missed this story line and universe. Saving the future from ourselves has never seemed so real, poignant and explosively fun.
