The hilarious comedy creator troupe Broken Lizard returns with their franchise hit Super Troopers. Now some years later, things have changed for the guys. Captain John O’ Hagen (Brian Cox) is retired, but still suspiciously around all the time, puttering and injecting humor and comments. The regular crew of Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), Farva (Kevin Heffernan), Mac (Steve Lemme), Foster (Paul Soter) and Rabbit (Erik Stolhanske) are still patrolling the street and playing games with the good citizens on the highway.
Unfortunately for Thorny, paths cross that no one could have guessed when his younger sister (Played by Hannah Simone) is saved from an accident by Farva. Sparks fly and love gets in the air quick as the two start dating and throwing off everyone’s idea of right and wrong. Along the way we meet Thorny’s parent, who absolutely love the unfiltered nature of their soon to be son-in-law.
On the other side of the street, we meet a new trainee named Coy Burns (Played by SNL’s Andrew Dismukes), who is making friends with guys, minus Rabbit. We also meet local bad boy Baker Buchanan (Chace Crawford), who love to poke law enforcement in the eye whenever possible.
The humor of this third installment is on par with the first film, we revisit some of the nostalgia and also catch up with each relationship and personality. The silliness is still very up front with each character becoming more of who they’ve always been. Is it the Odyssey, no, but why would you want it to be? It’s a fun time on a hot day with well-remembered and loved characters and delivers an awkward snort and belly laugh for those who need it.
