Review: Oh, Hi

Courtesy of Sony Pictures

A weekend getaway takes a strange turn in the new dark comedy “Oh, Hi”. Iris (Molly Gordon) and Isaac (Logan Lerman) are a couple on their first romantic trip together. Initially, everything seems fine, but things change when their true feelings come to light.

Gordon plays a neurotic Iris, a girl who questions every move and strives to be the best girlfriend. On the other side, Lerman’s Isaac is calm, cool, and cocky. Iris makes a move to get the guy of her dreams to really fall in love with her, but that’s when it all falls apart. in an effort to right her wrongs she calls in her best friend Max (Geraldine Viswanathan) who brings her Golden Retriever boyfirend Kenny (John Reynolds) along for the ride. Once Max and Kenny enter the picture, it’s a breath of fresh air and gives Gordon more room to play.

“Oh, Hi” is a small ensemble film that relies heavily on personality and tension. All four cast members deliver outstanding performances, keeping the audience engaged and entertained throughout. It starts out light and airy and takes a jarring tonal turn. At first, this film might seem like an easy one to turn off, but if you stick around, you’re in for a wild and unforgettable ride.
