Collette’s Review: For All Mankind – Season 3

What would life be like if the U.S.A. didn’t win the space race? That’s the great unknown Apple’s sci-fi drama explores. I have been preaching to anyone who will listen for years about how good this show is. I was hooked as soon as episode 1 started and couldn’t wait to watch each week. After season two’s heartbreaking and mysterious ending, season 3 couldn’t come fast enough.

Right off the bat, season 3 packs a punch. Through television snippets and newspaper clippings, we see ten years go by. Our astronauts are older, and most have moved to different positions. The group may be on a new path, but there’s still a mission everyone is trying to accomplish: Landing on Mars.

The writing on this show is impeccable. I love that we never lose sight of our core players despite new obstacles. It’s forward-thinking and clever. With a small catalog, Apple, in my opinion, is blowing its competitors out of the water. They focus on creating captivating content with good stories and great character development. The CGI is also impeccable for a streaming service. Some of the scenes feel like they were actually shot in space.

In its third season, For All Mankind still continues to be a compelling show, which is surprising. I love that it didn’t fall victim to the “third season slump.” The characters are still rich, the writing is spectacular, and the graphics are out of this world. If you haven’t given this show a chance, I highly suggest you check it out. It may just become your new favorite.

Incredibly awkward. Fantastically sarcastic, and very, very small. Lover of movies, musicals, & TV.
