Golden Globes Winners all around! The 80th Golden Globes Awards kick off the 2023 Awards Season with alcohol flowing and Oscar Hopefuls taking notice as to potential early favorites.

Among the early favorites; The Fabelmans, Everything Everywhere All At Once; and The Banshees of Inisherin take home several Golden Globes apiece.

The Fabelmans – Two Golden Globes Winners

Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical film about his childhood headlines the Golden Globes biggest winners.

The Fabelmans‘ takes home ‘Best Picture – Drama’ and ‘Best Director’ for Steven Spielberg; amongst its 5 Nominations.  Michelle Williams (Best Actress – Drama), and Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner (Best Screenplay) also took home nominations.

The Banshees Of Inisherin – Three Golden Globes Winners

Martin McDonagh’s tale about the end of a friendship during the Irish Civil War takes home three Globes against its 8 Nominations.

‘Banshees’ wins ‘Best Picture – Musical or Comedy’.  Colin Farrell wins ‘Best Actor Performance in a Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy’; and Director Martin McDonagh takes home the writing award for ‘Best Screenplay’ for The Banshees Of Inisherin.

Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan also take home Best Supporting Actor nominations.  Kerry Condon gets a Best Supporting Actress nomination.  The Film also gets nominations for Best Director and Best Original Score.

Everything Everywhere All At Once – Two Golden Globes Winners

The Daniels’ tale of Chinese-American immigrant, laundromat owners saving the Multiverse with different versions of themselves takes home two Globes against its six Nominations.

Michelle Yeoh wins Best Actress Performance in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.  And ‘Short Round’ himself, Ke Huy Quan steps back in front of the camera for the first time in TWO DECADES, and takes home Best Supporting Actor Performance in a Motion Picture for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The film also gets nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy; Jamie Lee Curtis for Best Supporting Actress; and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (The Daniels) as a team for Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Harbinger Of Oscars To Come

While the Golden Globes aren’t an exact one-to-one correlation to the Academy Awards Nominations coming out in two weeks on January 24; they are often considered a semi-reliable look ahead for the event.

Yes, the Golden Globes has two different categories for Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Actress; when the Oscars only have one for each.  But, this is our first look at what at least one group of journalists (the Hollywood Foreign Press Association) thinks of the 2022 crop of films.

This should be an entertaining Awards Season!!!
